Since I easily saw the main sights in Dublin in about two days, I decided to take a day trip out to the Cliffs of Mother, partially because they were supposed to be amazing and partially because it involved me not having to plan anything for myself for an entire day! Planning and looking at maps and wandering around strange cities gets really exhausting really quickly.
The tour started a 7:00 am, which is way too early when your staying in a dorm with 18 other people you don't want to wake up. The tour guide was a very chipper Irishman who spent approximately 30% of the trip singing to us and could quote Oscar Wilde all day long. He also did a really cry Gollum impression that will haunt my dreams forever. On our way to the Cliffs we stopped by the city of Limerick and saw a castle, which would be exciting if all castles didn't look the same to me, and I am just delighted that there is a city called Limerick in Ireland.
The weather for seeing the Cliffs turned out to be pretty great, and the views were more than incredible. It really is amazing how perfectly vertical they are as they plugs into the ocean, and there are so many cliffs going down the coastline. I can't do it justice in writing, you just have to see it for yourself. All of Ireland is jut so pretty, the drive through the countryside was so nice. The best part is that all of the cows and sheep seemed to have just had babies, so there were tiny little animals every where. Also, those Irish cows and sheep are bold. They just casually hang out next to giant cliffs and busy road like it's nothing. It was really funny to see a group of cows hanging out right next to a beach where a few guys were surfing. I am fairly certain Ireland is the only place you will see cows and surfers in the same natural habitat.
We ended the day seeing an old abbey where Irish kings used to be buried, and if you looked just right you could see one of their skulls in their tomb.
Some of these picture were taken from inside of a moving bus, I'm pretty impressed with my photography skills on that one.
How about some pics with you in them! Have Fun on St.Patricks day! JP
