Guinness really is one of the greatest beers on Earth, in my opinion, and the Irish are damn pound of it (rightfully so). So of course I had to have a tourist moment and tour the old Guinness storehouse, mostly because it come with a free beer, and there were rumors of amazing views as well.
I did not expect this to be one of the coolest parts about Dublin, but I have to say it was not disappointing. Although it is a self guided tour, there are so many cool things to see when you get inside that it is hard not to be amused. The first couple levels (there are 7 levels total, and the place is designed to look like a pint glass from the outside, because why not) tell you all about how Guinness is made, and there is a really impressive indoor waterfall to go along. Then there are sections about the famous Guinness advertising campaigns, and a backstory of Arthur Guinness himself.
The advertising part was visually really cool and had some interactive elements. The background on the founder, however, was terrible and creepy. It was set up sort of like a museum, with these animated pictures that would talk to you and look you in the eye when you stood in front of them. It really freaked me out, so I didn't learn much about Arthur Guinness.
In the end you arrive at the Skybar, which has amazing 360 degree views of Dublin (sorry, it was too crowded for pictures), and this is where you get your free pint. Yum.
If you find yourself in Dublin and have some free time, go here, you will not be disappointed.
